All babies deserve the healthiest start possible. That’s why TexProtects works with partners across North Texas to support Family Connects Texas. This evidence-based program provides all parents of newborns with home visits by a nurse. These critical, free resources are proven to prevent child abuse and improve maternal and child outcomes.
This program, developed at Duke University, has demonstrated:
A 39%
reduction in Child Protective Services investigations for child maltreatment through the child’s fifth year of life.
A 33%
reduction in emergency room visits through the child’s fifth year of life.
TexProtects also works with Family Connects International, the Texas Legislature and managed care organizations to scale Family Connects statewide.
Why
This program has been proven to reduce child abuse and maternal deaths, and improve access to community resources for families.
